Officers from the East Fishkill Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Route 82 shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, where there was a report of vandals inside the house. While police were en route, they received a second report that a man had fled the residence on foot.
According to police, officers arrived at the scene and set a perimeter. During the search, the suspect - later identified as East Fishkill resident Ricky Dunbar - was spotted at the East Fishkill Community Center.
Sgt. Paul Gaston, Officers Justino Bermudez and Stephen Costello were able to track Dunbar down, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Police said that the investigation into the burglary determined that Dunbar broke into the residence and attempted to steal multiple items from the homeowner.
Dunbar, 38, was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools and attempted petit larceny. Following his arraignment, he was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
